Authors retain all rights not expressly granted to the Journal under this licence.

2. Open Access Licence (CC BY 4.0)

Unless otherwise specified, all content published in Insuficiencia Cardiaca is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0).

Under the CC BY 4.0 licence:

  • anyone may copy, distribute, display, and share the work;
  • anyone may adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use;
  • appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s) and source;
  • a link to the licence must be provided; and
  • any modifications or changes made must be clearly indicated.

A standard credit statement is as follows:

This article is distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0).

The full legal code of the licence is available at:

https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Where a different Creative Commons licence applies to specific content (e.g., CC BY-NC-ND), the applicable licence will be clearly identified on the article itself and shall govern the reuse of that content.

3. Authors’ Rights and Reuse

As authors retain copyright, they may:

  • deposit the preprint, accepted manuscript, and published version in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or scholarly networking platforms immediately upon publication and without embargo;
  • use the article for teaching, conference presentations, course materials, and internal reports;
  • incorporate the article or portions thereof into future works, including books, theses, and edited volumes, provided that the original publication in Insuficiencia Cardiaca is appropriately cited;
  • share the article freely with colleagues, students, and collaborators; and
  • translate the work or reuse figures, tables, and text in derivative works in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons licence.

Whenever an article or substantial portions thereof are reused or republished, authors should cite the original publication in Insuficiencia Cardiaca, including the journal title, year, volume, page numbers, and DOI.

4. Third-Party Material and Permissions

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts do not infringe the rights of third parties.

Prior to submission, authors must:

  • obtain written permission for any previously published material not covered by a compatible open licence;
  • acknowledge the original source and copyright holder appropriately; and
  • clearly indicate in captions or notes when figures, tables, or other materials have been reproduced or adapted from another source.

Third-party material not covered by the article's Creative Commons licence will be identified by a specific credit line. Permission for reuse of such material must be obtained directly from the respective rights holder.

5. Preprints and Prior Dissemination

Insuficiencia Cardiaca supports and encourages the dissemination of preprints through recognized preprint servers and institutional repositories.

Posting a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not prevent submission to or publication in the Journal.

Following publication, authors are encouraged to update the preprint record by including a citation, DOI, and link to the final published article.

Authors should clearly indicate that the preprint version has not undergone final peer review.

6. Text and Data Mining (TDM)

In accordance with the CC BY 4.0 licence, published articles may be used for text and data mining, machine learning, and other automated analytical purposes, provided that:

  • the terms of the licence, including attribution requirements, are respected; and
  • such activities do not compromise the security, integrity, or performance of the Journal's website and servers.

Researchers undertaking large-scale text and data mining activities are encouraged to contact the Journal to coordinate access where appropriate.

7. Moral Rights

Nothing in this policy shall be interpreted as limiting or waiving the moral rights of authors where such rights are recognized by applicable law.

Authors retain, among other rights, the right to be acknowledged as the creators of their work and to object to any derogatory treatment that could adversely affect their honour or reputation.

8. Archiving and Preservation

Insuficiencia Cardiaca is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its scholarly content.

The Journal may deposit published material in trusted repositories, preservation services, and digital archives to ensure continued availability of the scholarly record.

Open licensing facilitates preservation activities and allows authorized third parties to archive and host content in accordance with the applicable licence terms.

9. Changes to the Copyright and Licensing Policy

Insuficiencia Cardiaca reserves the right to revise this policy periodically in order to:

  • reflect changes in applicable laws and regulations;
  • adopt updated licensing standards; or
  • align with evolving best practices in scholarly publishing.

Any revisions shall not affect articles already published. Each article remains subject to the licence in effect at the time of its publication.
